  1. Tommy Helge Petersen Profile: Danish vocalist, keyboard player, pioneering in Danish rock as founder of early rock groups Rocking Ghosts (which he left before they started recording), Matadorerne, Tommy P Studio Group, and one of the first progressive rock bands in Denmark, T.P. Smoke, before he in the mid 70's shifted to pop/schlager.
  2. This is the album that propelled the Who into legend land, and Pete's first foray into concept albums. I listen to this vinyl lp and it takes me back to a time when there was just so much great music being made. The story of Tommy (which everyone knows) shows the Who becoming a great band, not just top ten /5(K).
  3. Mar 22,  · For me, the album Tommy is as disturbing as Pink Floyd’s The Wall, another album that I can not listen to as a conceptual piece. In The Wall we finally see that the context of all Pink Floyd albums have revolved around the loss of Syd, the loss of Roger’s father during World War II, and the mental abuse inflicted on the school children by /5().
  4. The Who's Rock Opera, Tommy, launched the band to even higher levels of stardom. Nearly all twenty-four songs were written by Townshend, including "Pinball Wizard," "I'm Free," and the epic-length "Underture." The story of a deaf-mute-blind boy who happens to be a wiz at pinball inspired a movie, a Broadway show and, naturally, a pinball.

  8. Ken Russell's adaptation of the Who's rock opera Tommy has always been greeted with skepticism, and years after its controversial release, it remains a polarizing experience, due to its sheer garishness (no big surprise from Russell) and its bevy of guest two traits, unsurprisingly, spill over to the soundtrack, which is hardly just a re-recording of the Who album -- it's a gaudy.
